Supervision in Poole Dorset or online
Supervision is a vital part of the counselling service you offer and it is important that you find the right support for you.
I am passionate about supporting counsellors fully, in all aspects of their work.
Supporting yourself is as important as supporting your clients.
In my previous corporate roles I was involved in training and mentorship and I believe this experience, alongside my counselling supervision training and 10 years of counselling experience in both private practice, volunteering and charity work means I can provide you with the support you are looking for.

Supervision with Laura has been an invaluable experience. She has provided me with a dedicated space to explore my client work and delve deeper into my identity as a therapist. Through her guidance, I have felt immensely supported in my growth, both as a therapist and in building my therapy business.
Laura’s encouragement has been pivotal in my continuous professional development (CPD), offering insightful recommendations and helping me navigate through various learning opportunities. She fosters a safe, supportive environment that has allowed me to process my therapy work effectively, enabling me to grow and deliver my best work with my clients.

We cannot do this role on our own, support is vital to keep your practice ethical, boundaried and safe.
Supervision support also keeps you grounded, allows you to explore all aspects of your work, prevents burn-out and provides a safe space for you.
One of the areas I most enjoy working with is counsellors new too, or building their private practice, supporting you through your decision making processes, developing your practice and those, sometimes, anxious first few months or years of building a practice.
I have experience of working with supervisees in Private Practice as well as counselling students and work with my local training college providing group supervision sessions.

I am happy working with individuals and groups from all areas of counselling practice.
I also run a Counsellors Networking Group in Dorset, bringing together counsellors for both professional development and social interaction, offering low cost CPD events and regular networking coffee mornings. This gives me a really good insight into the challenges we face as counsellors as well as helping me to understand the importance that development and co-learning plays in our role as counsellors.

My qualifications and Experience
I am a CPCAB Level 6 trained Therapeutic Counselling Supervisor.
I have studied both the Cylical Model of supervision and the Seven Eyed Model of supervision.
I tend to favour working with the Cyclical Model but incorporate both models within my work as a supervisor.
This means that through our sessions we will focus on the relationship between you and your client and between you and me as your supervisor.
Our work will look at
-
Contracting
-
How the supervision session is relevant to your client work
-
Exploring your work with your client
-
Using the supervision space to learn from your work with your client and consider how to integrate this back into your sessions and enhance your therapeutic relationship
-
Review your client work so you can reflect on the standard and the quality of your work

As a counsellor I trained as a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor, with Person Centred being my main modality alongside Gestalt and Transactional Analysis.
I also have a Level 5 Cognitive Behavioural Therapy diploma and use CBT regularly in my work with clients who present with anxiety, which is my specialist area of work.
I have informally studied both IFS and Polyvgal Theory and find these both helpful in my counselling work.
I am a trained mindfulness teacher and incorporate this into my work, alongside CBT, which sits well within Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

If you would like to know more about me, or how we could work together I am very happy to book in a chat with you online, so that we could explore further before committing to work together.
I am flexible in the way that I work, and many of my counsellors enjoy 2 x 45 minute sessions a month, or depending on your needs a 1.5 hour seession or 1 hour sessions as appropriate for your level of client work and your individual needs as a counsellor.
I believe that the relationship is as important in supervision, as it is in our client work and am a strong believer in the strength of the relational work we do together.
Your supervision space should be a safe and supportive space, as well as an enjoyable and, when needed, challenging space.
Growth comes from being able to explore all aspects of your work, what you bring, what I bring and what your clients bring.
This is a collaborative working space that we will nurture together.

Alongside supporting you with your client work ,if you would like, we can also look at ways to help you develop your private practice and increase your confidence as a counsellor in private practice.
This may involve sharing my own experiences of running a successful business and teaching you skills that were not covered in your counseling training.
We will tailor our approach to your specific needs, which include
-
Success Planning
-
Note keeping
-
Assessments
-
Money mindset
-
Marketing and advertising
-
Writing directory profiles
-
Social media presence
-
Expenses
-
Growing your client base

Listen to my Podcast with The Good Enough Counsellors, talking about Managing Anxiety in Private Practice
I have been working with Laura as my counselling supervisor since doing my Level 5 in CBT last year, and I couldn’t have asked for a more supportive and insightful mentor. She provides a safe and nurturing space where I feel comfortable discussing my challenges and exploring new approaches. Laura's depth of knowledge and ability to offer thoughtful feedback helps me grow both professionally and personally. I always leave our supervision sessions feeling more confident and equipped to support my clients. I would highly recommend Laura to any counsellor looking to deepen their practice.

Some of your questions answered

1. Who do you offer supervision for?
I offer supervision for both trainee and qualified counsellors who want a supportive, reflective space to grow in confidence and competence. My approach is collaborative and grounded in ethical practice, helping you explore your work with clarity and self‑awareness.

2. What is your approach to supervision?
Supervision with me is relational, reflective and grounded in the needs of both you and your clients. We explore your clinical work, your professional identity, and any areas where you feel stuck or unsure. My aim is to create a safe, steady space where you can think openly, deepen your skills, and feel supported in your development.

3. Can supervision count towards my training hours?
Yes. If you are a trainee counsellor, our sessions can count towards your required supervision hours as long as your training provider accepts external supervisors. I can provide written reports, attendance confirmation and reflective feedback when needed.

4. What can I bring to supervision sessions?
You can bring anything that feels important — client work, ethical dilemmas, personal reactions, areas of uncertainty, or moments you feel proud of. Supervision is a space to explore your process, strengthen your clinical thinking, and ensure safe, ethical practice.

5. How often do I need supervision?
This depends on your mebership body requirements, your training requirements and your client load. Many counsellors attend monthly, and I work with many of my supervisees on a fortnightly basis, 45 mins per fortnight, this is often the requirement for trainess. We can discuss what feels appropriate for your stage of practice and agree on what suits you best.

6. Do you offer online supervision?
Yes. I offer supervision both in Poole and online, giving you flexibility to choose what works best for your schedule and learning style. Online sessions are just as reflective, supportive and relational as in‑person work.

If you have any further questions I am more than happy to answer them, just call or email me and we can arrange a time and date to get to know each other better and how we can best work together. You can then decide if you feel I am the right supervisor for you
