Hello my name is Laura, a counsellor based in Parkstone Poole, Dorset. Welcome to my website.
Do you feel you need some help to get your life back on track?
As a trained counsellor I am here to help you make the changes you want.
I am trained in different counselling approaches so that I can offer the way of working that feels most comfortable for you. Talking therapy is good for some, or Cognitive Behavioural therapy may be better for your problem.
Together we work out what will help you make the changes you want.
I specialise in working with anxiety and panic attacks, helping you find ways to manage life better, reducing how often you experience the scary symptoms such as racing heart, feeling sick, dizziness etc.
Is your head full of negative thoughts? Do you constantly worry about things? Do you often feel alone? Are you finding it difficult to cope with life?
I can help you find ways to escape these feelings and enjoy life more.
Are recent events in your life troubling you, we can work together to find a way to help you move to a better place.
Maybe past experiences are still having an impact for you. Together we can work through these events, process them and talk about how to reduce the impact they have on you now.
It may be that anxiety and depression seem to have always been a part of your life and you would like to explore ways to help reduce the symptoms. Together we can work towards finding ways to manage how you cope with the negative effects these have on you.
I offer a relaxed and friendly environment, where I work alongside you, and assist you in your journey to finding a life that feels better for you.
It is important you feel comfortable and relaxed with me so you feel able to talk about the things that are really troubling you.
We will always work at a pace that feels comfortable for you, together we uncover what changes you feel will help you get to a better place.
"I was apprehensive to start as I had never had counselling and thought it might be scary and formal......Fortunately it was nothing like that. Laura was engaging and so easy to talk to....I never felt judged or misunderstood...."

I have specialist training and experience in working with survivors of childhood abuse or trauma, and understand the need to work at a pace that suits you is important. Allowing you to explore difficult memories and feelings without becoming too overwhelmed by them.
If past abuse or trauma are impacting on your life today, being able to talk about things and process them will help, but only if handled sensitively and in a way that you feel comfortable with.

Counselling can help you find ways to understand yourself better and make the changes that you feel will help you lead a more fulfilling life.
When things become difficult to cope with on your own you need a safe place where someone will really listen, without judgement or prejudice.
Counselling is a talking therapy which helps you think in a different way and helps you find ways to cope better.
There are many different types of counselling, I focus on Person Centred Counselling which means the relationship between counsellor and client is an important part of the counselling process.
If you have anxiety and depression you could benefit from CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) there is evidence that symptoms can be minimised through CBT work and so we will look at introducing this into your sessions.
Your introductory session is at a reduced rate of £20 allowing you to meet me and find out how we can work together. This 1st session is a get to know each other session
If you decide you then want to book further session these are £40 for 50 Minutes
To book your first session please phone, text or E-mail and I will get back to you, usually within a couple of hours, and we can find a time that suits you and book the initial session.
